That's when Dunn took over.

The Highlanders' senior took down Hernandez with 34.5 seconds left for two points and a 7-5 win Saturday.

Dunn overcame a bloody nose and a 4-1 first-period deficit of a match mostly dominated by Hernandez.

``All I thought was that I had a chance,'' Dunn said. ``I could tell he was kind of tired, so I just went for it. This was definitely the hardest (match of the tournament) by far. (Hernandez) was a big and strong guy. He was able to keep me far away, and I couldn't really get him down.''

Dunn has won tournaments in two weight categories this season. He placed first at a Newbury Park tournament wrestling wrestling, sport in which two unarmed opponents grapple with one another. ``Being able to wrestle at both weights, that's a testament to his skill,'' Royal coach Richard Carrillo said. ``(Dunn) was pushing, he was really moving on that guy, and he was trying to maintain his lead. I had a pretty good feeling that (Dunn) was going to get back.''

Shane Crosley took fourth place in the 152-pound bracket for the Highlanders, who placed 11th with 107.5 team points.

La Canada of La Canada Flintridge's Spencer Tompkins wrestled a short 160-pound final match. Tompkins won by injury default after Tomas Elias of Torrance hurt his right knee 1:40 into the match.
