ONE-HIT WONDERS List of one-hit wonders can refer to

No-hitters have been more scarce than usual this season for locals, but several pitchers have come close. The past week has seen an abundance of one-hitters. Some of the top gems:

--Camarillo senior right-hander Jeff Bricker had a no-hitter through seven innings Friday and finished with a one-hit shutout for his first win of the season as the Scorpions upset Oxnard 1-0 in eight innings.

--Royal of Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  junior Grady Ihnat (2-0) struck out 14 Tuesday in a victory over Newbury Park. He faced one batter over the minimum.

--Canyon of Canyon Country senior right-hander Anthony DiGiacomo did not allow another hit after a first-inning bunt single in Saturday's 2-0 victory over Saugus. He struck out nine.

--Valencia junior left-hander Scott Fowler Scott Fowler was the baritone vocalist with the Cathedral Quartet from 1991 through 1999. After the retirement of the Cathedrals, he co-founded Legacy Five along with former Cathedral pianist Roger Bennett, in which he sings lead.  surrendered a home run but nothing else in his one-hit victory Monday over Long Beach Poly.

--Calabasas junior right-hander Daniel Berlind earned the Coyotes' first win of the season with a one-hit shutout Tuesday against Katella of Anaheim.

 of Woodland Hills earned his first win of the season by limiting Taft of Woodland Hills to a second-inning infield single Wednesday. The senior had five strikeouts and no walks in the five-inning game.

--Santa Clarita Christian sophomore right-hander Augie Detres struck out six, opening the Paraclete tournament Saturday with a five-inning one-hitter against Frazier Mountain Frazier Mountain is a mountain (or peak) that is located near Frazier Park, California and Lake of the Woods, California to the north. Frazier Mountain is 8,026 feet (2446 m)  of Lebec.

LET'S TRY AGAIN

The Daily News Invitational finals have been rescheduled for April 30 at USC's Dedeaux Field Dedeaux Field is a college baseball stadium in Los Angeles, California, and the home field of the University of Southern California Trojans baseball team. The stadium holds 2,500 people and was built in 1974, the year USC won its record fifth consecutive College World Series title. . L.A. Baptist of North Hills faces South Gate in the Silver Division final, which will be followed by Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  vs. Granada Hills in the Gold Division championship.

The tournament, which split into a two-division format this year, was originally scheduled to finish March 19, but championship games were postponed because of rain.

Its name derives from its crescent-like shape, with the convex portion facing roughly northeast and the concave portion southwest. : He improved to 3-0 by holding Glendale to two hits in five shutout innings Tuesday. His hitting was the difference in putting Crescenta Valley of La Crescenta alone in first place Friday; he hit an eighth-inning home run to lift the Falcons in a 3-2 victory over previously undefeated Arcadia.

--Sammy Donabedian, Sr., El Camino Real: For the second year in a row, the UC Irvine-bound catcher is one of El Camino Real of Woodland Hills' most consistent contributors. On Monday, he hit for the cycle and had six RBI in a West Valley League-opening victory over Taft of Woodland Hills.

--Justin Kaid, Jr., Cleveland: He stuck out nine and held Granada Hills to one earned run Monday, improving to 4-1. On Saturday, Kaid had four hits, including two doubles, and six RBI in a victory over San Pedro in the quarterfinals of the RBI Tournament.

--Mark Sunga, Sr., Notre Dame: His 4-for-4 performance in Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks' victory Wednesday over Lynwood included two home runs and five RBI.

-- Aaron Davis, Sr., Antelope Valley: He hit a grand slam and had six RBI Monday against Littlerock to lead Antelope Valley of Lancaster to its first Golden League victory of the season.

LEAGUE UPDATES

FOOTHILL

Freshman Robbie Mouselli, up from junior varsity, made his first start for Valencia on Wednesday at the Anaheim Lions Tournament, earning the win against Katella of Anaheim. He allowed one earned run in four innings. The performance was a welcome bright spot for the three-time defending league champions, who are off to a 6-7 start. Things don't get easier next week, when the Vikings face first-place Canyon of Canyon Country, then Saugus, which is part of a three-way tie for second.

GOLDEN

An eighth-inning, game-winning pinch hit by sophomore Travis Casey gave Palmdale sole possession of first place with a 5-4 victory Wednesday over Lancaster. The triumph was the fifth in a row for the Falcons, who have found success despite a roster with eight sophomores and three freshmen.

Lancaster entered the game undefeated in league after beginning the season 1-4. Among the Eagles' league victories was a 4-2 win Saturday over three-time defending league champion Quartz Hill, the first time Lancaster beat the Rebels since 2001. ``That's what's kind of deceiving,'' Lancaster coach Matt Anderson said of his team, which graduated 11 players last year and began this season with one of the toughest schedules in school history. ``A lot of people saw us at 1-4 and didn't think anything of us.'' ...

Antelope Valley of Lancaster defeated Littlerock 14-12 on Monday, the Antelopes' first league win in two years.

MARMONTE

Agoura went undefeated at the Anaheim Lions Tournament but settled for third place. The Chargers were among three teams undefeated in pool play and lost the tiebreaker tie·break·er

Royal of Simi Valley faced a familiar foe at the San Luis Obispo tournament Tuesday, defeating league rival Newbury Park 4-0 with a one-hitter by Grady Ihnat. Royal almost was matched up with another Marmonte rival in Thursday's final, but Thousand Oaks lost its semifinal in extra innings. Royal and Newbury Park, who are among three teams tied for second in league, meet again April 20. ...

After going 11 games into the season before winning its first game, Calabasas won twice Tuesday. The Coyotes defeated Lakewood and Katella of Anaheim at the Anaheim Lions Tournament.

NORTHERN

Eagle Rock senior Jeremy Camacho entered the week as the league's leading hitter with a .577 average. He also had four home runs and 15 RBI for the Eagles, who won four their first five league games and were just percentage points behind first-place Franklin of Highland Park entering Thursday's game against Los Angeles.

OLYMPIC

L.A. Baptist of North Hills, ranked third in Southern Section Div. V, hasn't slowed much since opening the season with a 21-4 victory over North Hollywood. The small-school power is winning with an offense led by seniors Ryan McKenzie (.667) and Graham Miller (.524) and a pitching staff that boasts a 0.78 ERA. The Knights' only loss in their first seven games was 2-0 to Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks.

KEEPING TABS

A group of locals are part of a University of San Francisco     [  lineup that has 10 consecutive victories and is in first place in the West Coast Conference entering this weekend's showdown with second-place Pepperdine. Senior right-hander T.J. Franco (Chaminade of West Hills) has held opponents to a .196 average while being used as a starter and long reliever. Freshman right-hander Garrett Ozar (Oak Park) is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA in limited action. Sophomore Blake Nelson (Oak Park) is batting .310 and hit a game-winning home run last week against Santa Clara. ... Granada Hills graduate Erik Hagstrom, a junior third baseman for Cal State Northridge,ranks second in the Big West Conference with a .391 average. He enters this weekend's series at Cal Poly with seven hits in his last 14 at-bats, including four doubles last week. ... Former Camarillo Brett Scyphers, a freshman second baseman for the University of Arizona (body, education) University of Arizona - The University was founded in 1885 as a Land Grant institution with a three-fold mission of teaching, research and public service. , returns to the Southland this weekend for a series at UCLA UCLA University of California at Los Angeles
