 TOSHIBA AMERICA APPOINTS TAIZO NISHIMURO
 TO NEW POSITIONS IN U.S. OPERATIONS
 NEW YORK, July 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Toshiba America Inc. (TAI) announced from its headquarters in New York that Taizo Nishimuro has been appointed to the newly created positions of vice chairman of Toshiba America, Inc. and board member of three of Toshiba America's California operating companies, according to Tadao Taguchi, chairman and CEO of TAI. These three operating companies are Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc.; Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. and Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc.
 In addition, Nishimuro has been named chairman of Toshiba America Entertainment, Inc., a newly established holding company and a direct subsidiary of Toshiba Corporation. In this capacity, he will oversee Toshiba's relationship with Time Warner and C. Itoh. He will divide his time between California and New York, with the majority of his time being spent in his office in Irvine, Calif.
 Previously, Nishimuro worked for Toshiba America, Inc. for more than ten years in a variety of sales and general management positions. In 1965, TAI's first year of operation, Nishimuro served as sales manager of the Electronic Components division to help establish the company's first sales subsidiary in the United States. Six years later, in 1971, he was named special assistant to the TAI president.
 In 1975, Nishimuro was promoted to vice president & general manager, Consumer Products, where he helped revitalize Toshiba America's marketing of consumer electronics products. During this period, TAI opened the company's first U.S. major international manufacturing facility in Lebanon, Tenn.
 In June 1979, Nishimuro returned to Japan to become senior manager, Electronic Components Division at Toshiba's International Operations - Electronics Products. In April 1984, he was promoted to general manager of the new division, International Operations - Electronic Components. During his tenure, sales of semiconductors and tubes increased tenfold.
 Nishimuro was named general manager of Toshiba's Semiconductor Marketing and Sales Division in 1986 where he was responsible for semiconductor sales in Japan and worldwide. During his tenure, he played a key role in the company's one-megabit dynamic-random-access- memory (DRAM) sales operation that helped the company move from the fifth position in the one-megabit chip market to the leadership spot as the world's largest producer of memory devices. He was also instrumental in the formation of Toshiba's joint venture in semiconductor manufacturing with Motorola.
 From 1990 until the recent promotion, he served as general manager of Toshiba Corp.'s Overseas Operations Promotion Division. On June 26, 1992, he was also appointed as a board member of Toshiba Corporation.
 A graduate in economics from Keio University, Nishimuro's hobbies include reading history books and visiting museums. He and his wife, Keiko, have two daughters.
