 TORO NAMES NEW CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
 BLOOMINGTON, Minn., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Gerald T. Knight today


was named vice president and chief financial officer of The Toro Company (NYSE: TTC).
 Knight comes to Bloomington-based Toro from NeXT Computer, Inc., Redwood City, Calif., where he was executive director-finance and corporate controller.
 At Toro Knight succeeds Robert A. Peterson, a 31-year Toro employee, who retired earlier this month. Peterson had been the company's chief financial officer since 1983.
 Knight spent five years in Minneapolis from 1985 to 1990 in various corporate and operational financial capacities with The Pillsbury Company.
 While at Pillsbury he was vice president and deputy controller; vice president-finance and administration, senior vice president and chief financial officer, as well as senior vice president-strategic planning for Grand Metropolitan's food sector. Knight worked in the home products industry as manager-finance for General Electric Company's housewares operations and as vice president-finance for The Black and Decker Company's household product division before joining Pillsbury.

 A finance graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, Knight did post-graduate work at the State University of New York and is a graduate of General Electric's Financial Management Program.
