After two months of trying to purchase the new home, at the site of a former Jehovah's Witnesses Jehovah's Witnesses, Christian group originating in the United States at the end of the 19th cent., organized by Charles Taze Russell, whose doctrine centers on the Second Coming of Christ. He said the temple congregation was expecting to spend an additional $15,000 on improvements but was surprised it wasn't necessary. ``It was officially ours on Friday and we could have had service right away if we wanted to. In the 12 years that Temple Beth Ami has been together on Golden Valley Road, it has never owned property. Shafarman said the purchase lets the congregation know they've arrived. ``We were just thrilled to have our own home. Everyone approved of the building, and when the Torah was placed into the ark, there were a lot of tears,'' Shafarman said. As the procession of the scrolls reached its climax, members of the congregation sang the Shechecheyanu, a prayer that is often sung on happy occasions. The synagogue is scheduled to hold an open house for the Newhall community on Sept. 7 beginning at 11 a.m. at its new location, 23023 Hilse Lane.
