:

KTLA KTLA KCBS TV in Los Angeles  Channel 5 has decided to replace Ross Porter with Rick Monday on the play-by-play team with Vin Scully for its 50 Dodgers telecasts next season, according to sources. Since the station pays Fox $15 million annually in rights fees, it can make the change without the team's approval, sources said. Porter, who has a year left on his Dodgers broadcasting contract, is expected to remain on Fox Sports West 2's 80-plus game schedule to do the middle innings. Porter was not available for comment Tuesday. Calls to KTLA were not returned.

 FOR WALTON'S SON:

Chris Walton, the youngest son of Hall of Famer Bill Walton, has turned down a scholarship offer from UCLA and orally committed to play for coach Steve Fisher at San Diego State. ``I have explored all my options and know it is the best place for me,'' the 6-foot-8 Walton told the San Diego Union-Tribune. CRASH SCARES DALY DALY Disability Adjusted Life-Years :

John Daly has come to peace with many things, but he might never fly again. While Daly says he rarely drinks or gambles since the pressure to abstain was lifted, his fear of flying was intensified by the accident that killed Payne Stewart. ``You expect some other kind of plane to go down before a Lear,'' Daly said. ``It was the only plane that I really felt safe in because of all of the safety features that it had. It was just like it was crash-proof.'' Instead of taking a one-hour flight, Daly drove more than six hours from Dallas to Mississippi for this week's Southern Farm Bureau Classic. ``I'm really not even wanting to get on a plane to go anywhere right now,'' Daly said.
