TOP OF THE LINEUP : NBA.FOUL CALLED: Referee Joseph Crawford was charged with tax fraud by the federal government, the eighth NBA official named in an airline-ticket scheme. Crawford, 46, of Havertown, Pa., offered his resignation to the league and will plead guilty, his lawyers said in a statement. The NBA officials were accused of downgrading first-class airline tickets purchased by the league for cheaper seats and pocketing the difference without telling the IRS. GOLF FATAL CRASH: Former Hart High golfer Jason Semelsberger was injured Monday in an automobile accident that killed a former classmate and injured two others. The crash, on state Highway 20 in Clearlake, killed Emily Roberts, 20, and injured Semelsberger, Amir Parvinchiha and Mary Cunnan, said the California Highway Patrol. Officers said they are checking a report that Semelsberger was involved in horseplay and might have accidentally bumped Parvinchiha, causing him to lose control. |
