TOP COP JAILED FOR 'REVOLTING' KID PORN; Pervert had 657 net pictures.
A HIGH-ranking policeman was jailed for four months yesterday for downloading child porn from the internet.
David Bruce, 44, a chief superintendent in the British Transport Police, who had 657 sickening images on his computer, claimed he used them to cure his impotence problems.
Bruce, who had once been tipped to become a chief constable, was arrested as part of the FBI-led Operation Ore, which tracks down perverts who use their credit cards to download child porn.
Many of the pictures found on Bruce's computer when his home in Milton Keynes was raided in July were graded at level five - the most explicit.
He has resigned from his pounds 60,000-a-year job at the British Transport Police HQ in London after a 22-year career.
He is being divorced by his wife Catherine and has tried to commit suicide three times.
He pleaded guilty to 16 specimen charges of making or possessing indecent images of children.
Sentencing Bruce at Milton Keynes magistrates court, Judge Brian Loosley told him: "People like you create a market, and it is a very lucrative market, and people in other countries form the intent to satisfy that market and they subject children to quite terrible abuse."
The judge said he had seen photographs which Bruce had viewed in which very young children performed "revolting acts".
The judge put Bruce on the sex offenders' register for seven years and ordered his laptop and computer equipment to be destroyed.
Ian Lewis, defending, said Bruce had suffered depression, alcoholism and impotence over the last decade and had used increasingly explicit internet sites to create sexual interest.
Mr Lewis said: "Since these matters came up, his whole life has come tumbling down."
