TOP 25 FOR MATADORS? C'MON NOW, LET'S BE REAL.

Byline: Billy Witz Staff Writer

Cal State Northridge's upset of UCLA UCLA University of California at Los Angeles
UCLA University Center for Learning Assistance (Illinois State University)
UCLA University of Carrollton, TX and Lower Addison, TX
is without question the most monumental victory in the school's history. When else have the Matadors ever been the lead story on ESPN ESPN Entertainment and Sports Programming Network  SportsCenter?

Just what else they get out this - beyond their 15 minutes of fame and some memories to last a lifetime - is another matter.

As to whether the victory over the 15th-ranked Bruins will propel CSUN CSUN California State University Northridge  into the Top 25, well, let's be real. If the win over UCLA put Northridge on the map, it will take quite a few more monumental wins - starting, for instance, with Saturday's game at UNLV UNLV University of Nevada, Las Vegas  and Dec. 5 at USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  - for the pollsters to find it.

The Matadors, who received one 25th-place vote in last week's poll, might qualify as a formidable underdog in the NCAA Tournament in four months, but if they're one of the top 25 teams in the nation, they'd likely be awarded a sixth seed or higher in March.

We'll cross that miracle when we come to it.
