TONY WANG NAMED PRESIDENT OF FOODMAKER INTERNATIONAL
SAN DIEGO, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Ta-Tung (Tony) Wang has been

named president of Foodmaker International, a division of Foodmaker, Inc. (NYSE: FM), operator and franchisor of the Jack In The Box and Chi-Chi's restaurant chains.
Wang will be responsible for executing a 10-year international expansion program to develop approximately 700 new Jack In The Box restaurants in the Far East, Southeast Asia and Latin America, through franchising and joint-venture agreements.
Wang, 47, most recently headed the food services division of W.R. Grace & Co., which operates Grace Culinary Systems and the American Cafe restaurant chain. Prior to his position at W.R. Grace & Co., Wang was president of Chia Tai Food Services Co. Ltd. a Hong Kong-based company specializing in development of fast-food restaurants in Asian markets.
Wang also gained extensive experience at PepsiCo, where he was vice president of Kentucky Fried Chicken International and responsible for the chain's operations and new market development in Southeast Asia and China. While at PepsiCo, Wang launched the first Western fast-food restaurant in China.
"The heavily populated markets of Asia and Latin America offer excellent expansion opportunities for Jack In The Box," said Robert J. Nugent, Jack In The Box president. "Asian consumers have responded very favorably to the introduction of Western fast food and we believe the diverse, innovative menu at Jack In The Box will be particularly appealing in these markets.
"During the next 10 years, we plan to open Jack In The Box restaurants in 13 countries. Initially, this expansion will focus on establishing strategic footholds for the Jack In The Box brand in Mexico, Singapore and China.
"Tony's knowledge of international markets and breadth of industry experience will be valuable to the company as we develop the Jack In The Box brand outside the United States."
A native of China, Wang earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Chong-Yuan University in Taiwan. He holds a master's degree in management science from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J., and completed post master's studies in international business management at New York University.
Foodmaker International will be headquartered in San Diego, where Foodmaker, Inc., is based. Jack In The Box currently operates and franchises 1,140 restaurants in the United States, Mexico and Hong Kong. Foodmaker is also the operator and franchisor of Chi-Chi's, with 231 full-service Mexican restaurants in the United States, Canada, Germany, Luxembourg and Kuwait.
