His ankle is bothering him, and he might not last the whole game, so Chad Pierson should see more playing time. Free safety DeShaun Hill. If Arbet is out, Antuan Simmons moves to cornerback in the nickel defense, and Hill replaces Simmons at safety. Tailback Chris Howard. He might get a few carries, if the Trojans decide to give Sunny Byrd a break.

Oregon State update: The Beavers have stumbled all season, and tailback Ken Simonton is in jeopardy of failing to be the first Pacific-10 Conference tailback to have four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. One reason for the Beavers' struggles is their inability to stop the run. They rank 10th in the Pac-10 and allow 196 yards per game.

Series: Tied 14-14. Last year, Sacramento State won 64-61 - one of the highest-scoring games in college football history.

Injuries: CSUN offensive lineman Keith Kincaid (shoulder), defensive back Travis Campbell (shoulder), offensive lineman Ashcon Madjid (foot), defensive lineman Jason Nicastro (foot), defensive back Greg Strausberg (knee), linebacker Cos Abercrombie (knee) are out. Fullback Ruben Gomez (knee), linebacker Pieter Keus (knee) are questionable. Sacramento running back Kendall Riley (knee) and Terence Wagner (knee) are day-to-day. Bilal Watkins (knee) is out. ARIZONA (3-5) at CALIFORNIA (0-7)

Kickoff: 12:30 p.m.

Matchup: Winless Bears have perhaps their last chance at a victory this afternoon. Arizona quarterback Michael Jolivette picked off two passes against USC, returning one 60 yards for a TD, while Wildcats defense limited USC to just 64 yards rushing on 30 carries, a 2.1-yard average. QB Jason Johnson passed for a career-high 311 yards.

ARIZONA STATE (4-3) at OREGON (7-1)

Kickoff: 7:15 p.m.

TV: Fox Sports Net
