 TOBACCO WORKERS RATIFY UNION CONTRACT AT LIGGETT
 DURHAM, N.C., Nov. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Members of the Bakery,


Confectionery and Tobacco Workers Union Local No. 176-T at Liggett Group Inc. voted yesterday to ratify terms of a new three-year contact.
 "The contract represents a team effort that is good for our union employees and for the company," said Jim Totty, Senior Vice President of Product Assurance and Operations at Liggett. "It provides quality health care benefits in a world of escalating medical costs and includes a profit sharing plan that continues to help provide for employees financial future by giving them a stake in the Company's success. We've updated the retirement formula which will increase the retirement benefit. Most importantly, the Union and management are building a foundation for an ongoing effort to increase productivity through policies that will help us be more competitive now and into the future."
 James Hamlet, Chairman of the Local No. 176-T Negotiating Committee, said, "We feel that this agreement is fair to all involved and allows for the welfare of the employees we represent while helping assure our Company's ability to remain competitive."
