There are many myths about prostate disease: that it affects only older men, that prostate problems are all cancer-related, that there are few treatment options. All stand in the way of slowing a problem that affects eight in 10 men.

To help everyone better understand the disease, the Prostate Health Council of the American Foundation for Urologic Disease has developed a new brochure, ``Prostate Health: What Every Man Should Know,'' to educate men about prostate disease, treatment and maintaining prostate health.

Grandparents may be able to benefit the most from the booklet: A Nissan survey revealed that 21 percent of grandparents said they never use a car safety seat when their grandchildren (8 or younger) are passengers in their car, even though more than 5 million American grandparents serve as primary child-care providers for working parents.

With the average older adult taking seven medications, mix-ups can happen. To make sure you're taking your medications correctly, and to avoid dangerous drug interactions, there's a new Web site that offers information on medicines.

Agenet.com provides data on more than 250 of the drugs most commonly prescribed to older people. Web surfers can get information on side effects, costs and alternatives, ask the advice of a pharmacist and receive a geriatric drug assessment to prevent interactions before they occur.
