MALIBU CREEK STATE PARK Coordinates:

Malibu Creek State Park is a California state park near Malibu, in Calabasas. It opened to the public in 1980, using property purchased from 20th Century Fox that the studio had owned since 1946 along with adjoining properties.
-- With the launch Saturday of an Orange Line connection to a National Park Service shuttle, a trip to the mountains or the beach can be as cheap and easy as buying a bus ticket.

The connection uses bus Line 161 to take riders from the San Fernando San Fernando, city, Argentina

The cost of a day pass to ride the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's buses is $3.

``Anyone can get from virtually any part of the city to the Orange Line, to the 161 to here,'' Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky Zev Yaroslavsky (born December 21, 1948) is a Los Angeles County politician. He served on the Los Angeles City Council from 1975 until 1994, when he was elected to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. He was preceded in both offices by Edmund D. Edelman. , an outspoken advocate of the busway, said at an opening ceremony at Malibu Creek State Park.

``The more we grow this system, the more access people will have. A day pass is $3, and with gasoline prices where they are, it's a steal.''

Ron Schafer, district superintendent of the state Department of Parks and Recreation, said the more people visit the recreation area, the more they're going to want to protect it.

161 buses will stop at Warner Center terminus of the Orange Line at four times daily on weekends and holidays, then connect with the ParkLINK shuttle at Las Virgenes and Agoura roads.

The 20-passenger shuttles are air-conditioned, wheelchair accessible and have bike racks and storage space for backpacks and picnic baskets.

ParkLINK shuttle stops include Malibu Creek State Park, Tapia Park, Malibu Lagoon State Beach, Solstice solstice (sŏl`stĭs) [Lat.,=sun stands still], in astronomy, either of the two points on the ecliptic that lie midway between the equinoxes (separated from them by an angular distance of 90°).  Canyon, Zuma Beach, Point Dume Trailhead, Peter Strauss Ranch The Peter Strauss Ranch is a unit of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area operated by the National Park Service in the Santa Monica Mountains near Agoura Hills, California in the United States. , Paramount Ranch and two Backbone trailheads, Kanan Road and Malibu Canyon Road.

``This is fantastic -- it's just the kind of thing we need,'' said John Ulloth, a member of the Sierra Club's transportation committee.

A survey of riders on the year-old ParkLINK shows that 33 percent are visiting the parks for the first time, said Woody Smack, superintendent of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. Twenty percent connected to ParkLINK from another Metro bus, showing that the system is drawing in visitors from outside the immediate area.

Mark Langton, with the Concerned Off Road Bicyclists Association, said the shuttle is an asset for mountain-bike enthusiasts like himself.

``I think it's great,'' he said. ``I wish more people would use it. You can visit a bunch of different areas of the park in one day.''
