TITLE IS ON THEIR LIST JUNIOR LEADS VIEWPOINT INTO FINAL.

Byline: ERIK BOAL Special to the Daily News

Troy List didn't make any apologies. He didn't offer any excuses.

Instead, List vowed to his Viewpoint High of Calabasas teammates -- especially the Patriots' six seniors -- that when it really mattered, he would deliver.

Three months after Viewpoint's 10-8 loss to rival Cate of Carpinteria, the junior is not only looking to produce three singles victories today for the Patriots' boys' tennis team in the Southern Section Div. V final, but also a third consecutive title.

``They've definitely become our archrivals,'' said List, who didn't compete in the March3 match because of a commitment to play in an SCTA SCTA Southern California Timing Association

is different than when we play anyone else.''

For the third year in a row, the Patriots' path to a championship goes through Cate (16-4).

List went 15-0 in postseason matches last year, sweeping his three sets in the Patriots' 11-7 semifinal victory over Cate, marking the second year in a row Viewpoint eliminated the Rams in the semifinals.

Cate earned a measure of revenge by defeating the Patriots -- minus List -- in the season-opening Lightning Invitational in·vi·ta·tion·al

Although Viewpoint held the top spot in the division rankings for most of the year, the loss to Cate resulted in the Rams being the top seed, only adding more drive to the second-seeded Patriots' bid for a three-peat.

``If they want to think that because they beat us and because they're the No. 1seed that makes them the better team, then let them think that,'' said Arjun Kolachalam, who, along with fellow seniors Raj raj also Raj

``They got to the finals, so obviously they're a good team. But we want to prove that we deserve it more, and we're definitely going to use that as motivation.''

Since the loss to Cate, Viewpoint has lost only one other time, a 14-4 setback setback

``Before us, there was no one else, so it was a huge deal for us,'' said Kolachalam, a four-year standout who helped Viewpoint win the school's first section title in any sport, a 13-5 victory over Oakwood of North Hollywood in 2004.

``It's going to be an emotional day for all the seniors. It would be really nice for all of us to go out with a win.''

List said the stakes have only increased knowing that it will be the last time this group takes the court together.

``The goal right now is to win it for the seniors,'' said List, who has lost only one playoff play·off also play-off
