THE PACESETTER

FIDELITY Fidelity is a notion that at its most abstract level implies a truthful connection to a source or sources. Its original meaning dealt with loyalty and attentiveness to one's duty to a lord or a king, in a broader sense than the related concept of fealty.  NATIONAL TITLE INSURANCE CO.

FIDELITY National Title Insurance Co. takes over this year as the top performer on our list of title companies.

One of the ways that Fidelity National plans to achieve that, Murphy said, is by offering customers more services.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

FOR the second straight year, the number and dollar amount of mortgages insured by the top 25 title companies in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County dropped, even though home sales volume remained healthy.

The leading tide companies insured $55.7 billion in mortgages (refinances, sales and construction loans) in 2000. That represents nearly a 20 percent drop from the previous year, after a 3.1 percent drop between 1998 and 1999.

The main culprit, again, was interest rates, with general economic uncertainty also playing a role.

The decline in business in 2000 was the result of a market returning to an equilibrium equilibrium, state of balance. When a body or a system is in equilibrium, there is no net tendency to change. In mechanics, equilibrium has to do with the forces acting on a body.  after the previous year's high activity, according to Bryan Bryan, city (1990 pop. 55,002), seat of Brazos co., E central Tex.; inc. 1872.
