Byline: Gerry Gittelson

Littlerock High wants a Golden League boys' volleyball volleyball, outdoor or indoor ball and net game played on a level court. On Wednesday, Littlerock (10-1, 5-0) continued its quest with a convincing 15-10, 15-4, 15-8 sweep over Verb 1. sweep over - overcome, as with emotions or perceptual stimuli

Playing with the fury of a team that simply had to finish by sundown, the Lobos handled the Quartz Hill in less than 60 minutes.

Chris Gorny (16 kills, 10 digs), Marc Mailander (13 kills, including a school-record nine service aces), and Myles Meeden (39 assists, three kills, three digs, two aces) led the charge. Chris Larson chipped in 10 kills.

``This was great,'' Gorny said. ``We pretty much knew that if we won this game, we'd have the best chance to win the league.''

``We shot Quartz Hill down fast and they stayed down,'' Gorny said. ``We were the ones having fun and being loud.''

After beating league favorite Highland three weeks ago, Littlerock has continued to win. But members agreed it took until Wednesday for the Lobos to have the same fire.

``This was one of our biggest wins,'' Larson said. ``

Coach Preston Aldous was very pleased. The Golden League championship is Littlerock's to lose.

``I think we definitely stepped up tonight,'' said the third-year coach. ``I was especially pleased with Myles Meeden. He took control.''

Meeden, the senior as the quarterback on the varsity football team, is playing setter setter: see sporting dog.

``At first it took Myles a while to get his rhythm,'' Aldous said. ``He was used to hitting, and he still likes to get his kills.''

Quartz Hill's only lead was a brief 4-3 advantage in the final game. But Littlerock thudded the comeback with a 10-3 spree, and the Rebels could not rebound rebound (rē´bownd),
