The Antelope Valley
customers to conserve water to reduce water demand during the hot summer months.

The Waterworks district serves much of Lancaster and West Palmdale, as well as parts of other communities including Lake Los Angeles and Acton.

Customers should take the following easy steps to conserve water:

Water your lawn or garden before sunrise or after sunset to reduce evaporation evaporation, change of a liquid into vapor at any temperature below its boiling point. For example, water, when placed in a shallow open container exposed to air, gradually disappears, evaporating at a rate that depends on the amount of surface exposed, the humidity  and allow water to reach plant roots.

Decrease the length of each watering cycle on your irrigation irrigation, in agriculture, artificial watering of the land. Although used chiefly in regions with annual rainfall of less than 20 in. (51 cm), it is also used in wetter areas to grow certain crops, e.g., rice.  system.

Use a moisture sensor to determine when your lawn needs watering.

Check your sprinklers to ensure only vegetation is watered and not the sidewalk or driveway.

Be sure your irrigation system is in good working condition and free of leaks.

Ask your local nursery for plants that are native to the Antelope Valley or suitable for arid climates. Remove grass where possible and replace it with a rock garden, deck, xeriscaping, or other low water-use features.

Keep your pool covered when you are not using it.

Turn off water while brushing your teeth or shaving.
