TINSELTOWN SPYWITNESS.

Byline: Elizabeth Snead, Lilliam Rivera and Jenny Peters

LETTING THEIR 'HAIR' DOWN: The Beverly Hilton became a real happening, man, as the Alzheimer's Association's annual ``A Night at Sardi's'' awards dinner gathered top celebrities to perform songs from the musical ``Hair.''

The love fest began with the cocktail hour. Billy Crystal quietly stood alone while Red Hot Chili Peppers Red Hot Chili Peppers are an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1983. But the real fun began with the music. Sharon Lawrence strapped on a pregnant belly and sang ``Air.'' Megan Mullally proved she's all grace by singing her rendition of ``What a Piece of Work Man Is.'' And the crowd went wild when the whole cast of ``Frasier'' donned ``naked suits'' to sing the title song.

The real highlight of the night came when a shirtless Eric McCormack rocked the house with his rendition of ``I Got Life.'' ``Will & Grace's'' Jack would have been so proud!

Everyone chowed down on pizza, mini cheeseburgers and stir-fried Chinese dishes in the cavernous open-air eatery. Krause did a visual autopsy on the veggie pizza and then devoured four pieces nonstop. Hey, doing the red carpet and posing for photos can build up a pretty hearty appetite.

Flying in under the red carpet radar was none other than James Cromwell, best-known for playing Farmer Hoggett in the ``Babe'' movies. Seems Cromwell, 63, will appear in the last three episodes of this season's ``Six Feet Under,'' which premieres tonight. ``I play a professor at UCLA UCLA University of California at Los Angeles
UCLA University Center for Learning Assistance (Illinois State University)
UCLA University of Carrollton, TX and Lower Addison, TX
,'' Cromwell confided. And is he also a love interest? ``Yes, I am a love interest. But I'm not sure I should be telling you this.''

Of course he should! So who'll be his love monkey? Could it be Claire's (Ambrose) widowed mother, Ruth Fisher (Conroy), who starts the new season without a man in her life? ``Maybe. But why not Claire?'' Cromwell said conspiratorially. ``What? You think I'm too old for her? Don't be too sure. The way this show is written, you never know what to expect.''

Indeed.

: Ever wanted some fashion advice from that tasty ``American Pie'' sweetie pie, Tara Reid? Now's your chance.

Reid's brothers, Patrick and Tommy, are opening a terminally trendoid boutique called Patrick Reid at 705 Montana Ave. in Santa Monica.

The shop kicks off with a private party Monday night. No doubt Tara will be on hand to talk trends with everyone. ``As an actress, fashion plays a major role in my life. I always offer Patrick advice about the styles of clothes and accessories that my friends and fellow actors are eager to find.''

EAT YOUR HEART OUT, BLACKWELL: It was geeks on parade at Le Salon in West Hollywood on Thursday night, as Hollywood's younger generation sipped Absolut vodka, got some culture via the modernist scribblings of actors-turned-artists Sam Ball (``The Last Castle'') and Bryan Kirkwood (``The Real World Movie: The Last Season''), and vied for the worst-dressed award.

The woman with the huge black-and-white Mohawk haircut and requisite punk outfit got our vote, but there were loads of scruffily dressed attendees, including the slightly famous, like Matt Davis (``Legally Blonde,'' ``Blue Crush''). His faded gray T-shirt was at least clean. Andy Dick's black watch-cap helped hide his unruly hair, and ``Dark Angel'' star Jennifer Blanc's white mini-dress and combat boots wins her the night's ``What was she thinking?'' award.

Thankfully, there were a few classy gals in attendance at the party, which took place as much out on the sidewalk (where the crowd gathered to suck on cigarettes) as in the salon. Natasha Henstridge was simply elegant in a long black coat and faded jeans, while ``Less Than Perfect'' star Sara Rue looked perfectly fine in a casual black top, tan cords and sneakers sneakers
