TINSELTOWN SPYWITNESS.

Byline: Jenny Peters and Joel Stratte-McClure

BURN, BABY, BURN: ``Desperate Housewives'' star Teri Hatcher Teri Lynn Hatcher (born December 8, 1964) is an Emmy-nominated and Golden Globe Award-winning American actress and author. She gained attention for her role as Lois Lane in the television series co-starring with Dean Cain.  wasn't worried about promoting her book, ``Burnt Toast and Other Philosophies of Life,'' when she arrived at a book party thrown by Vanity Fair at Aqua in Beverly Hills Beverly Hills, city (1990 pop. 31,971), Los Angeles co., S Calif., completely surrounded by the city of Los Angeles; inc. 1914. The largely residential city is home to many motion-picture and television personalities.  on Tuesday night.

After all, the story about her ``jagged route to happiness'' had been plugged on ``The Oprah Winfrey “Oprah” redirects here. For the show, see The Oprah Winfrey Show.

So once she walked the red carpet, Hatcher rushed over to her 8-year-old daughter, Emerson Rose, gave her a big hug and led her to the dance floor.

The two kicked up their heels like they were the only ones in the downstairs restaurant and lounge.

``Emerson is the coolest kid in the world, and she was so genuinely proud that I was writing a book,'' said Hatcher as she sipped a glass of champagne.

``My mom read me parts of the book when she was writing it, and my favorite My Favorite is an independent synthpop band from Long Island, New York. They released two CDs: Love at Absolute Zero and Happiest Days of Our Lives. My Favorite broke up on September 14, 2005, when singer Andrea Vaughn left the band.  chapter is definitely `It's Your Caviar, You Can Do What You Want With It,''' Emerson said. ``I've never eaten caviar, but I like the way it sounds.''

Hatcher certainly didn't eat any burnt toast at the party attended by James Belushi James "Jim" Edgar Belushi (born June 15, 1954) is an American actor, comedian, musician and younger brother of the late comedian John Belushi. Instead, she and other guests feasted on food and drinks named after other chapter titles, like ``Sour Grapes Can Make Fine Wine'' and ``Once Burnt, Twice Shy.''

``One of the most endearing things about Teri is that she's incredibly focused on raising her daughter, and that's the top priority in her life,'' said Denton as he handled a ``Happy Enchilada.''

Are other ``Housewives'' now going to follow in Hatcher's literary footsteps?

``I don't think I'll be writing one,'' said Huffman. ``Teri's definitely the author of the bunch.''

HELLO, HELIO HELIO Heliogravure (philately; early photogravure style) : A breathtaking mansion in the Hollywood Hills above Sunset was the expensive setting for the launch of Helio, the latest mobile service device (aka a phone with lots of bells and whistles A slang English term for exceptional features in some product. ``That 70's Show'' star Danny Masterson was the nominal host for the party, along with Milla Jovovich and Chloe Sevigny. He's already a big fan of the Helio. ``It's got a lot of cool elements to it,'' he raved.

MOMMAPALOOZA: It couldn't have been more perfect to see Brooke Shields, new mom of two weeks, out and about on Wednesday night at the Target-sponsored party to celebrate Jane Buckingham's new book, ``The Modern Girl's Guide to Motherhood.'' Proving once again that she's the model of a modern mother, Shields took the high road and just grinned when asked about the irony of her baby having been born on the same day and in the same hospital as Tom Cruise's.

``I'm just here to support Jane,'' the Pucci-clad actress demurred, keeping mum about her ongoing feud with Cruise over his remarks about postpartum depression Postpartum Depression Definition

The party was a play date for expectant mommies and those who have already had their blessed event.

Shar Jackson left Kevin Federline's first set of kids at home; ``ER'' favorite Ming-Na and model-turned-reporter Willow Bay partied sans their children as well.

Everyone who was pregnant sipped ``mock-tinis,'' while the rest went for champagne, as the mostly female group crowded into the GM Penthouse Suite at the Regent Beverly Wilshire. There were ``new-mommy makeovers'' (how to put on makeup fast) from Stila, lessons in baby massage, rooms filled with adorable baby items from Target, and even tiny tot jewelry from Erica Courtney on display.

But the best booth at the party was definitely the Reach Out and Read spot. That literacy program has doctors across the U.S. giving away books to kids that come in for checkups, thus encouraging both parents and children to open up to the world of reading.

That's one parenting issue we'll bet both Shields and Cruise could agree on.
