TINSELTOWN SPYWITNESS.

Byline: Joel Stratte-McClure

PUTTING ON THE DOG: Dog-show premieres have become so frequent at the El Capitan Theatre that the red carpet was lined with cherry-colored plastic fire hydrants on Tuesday night. And when the cast of ``The Shaggy Dog'' posed with the film's canine star, everyone - including Tim Allen, Kristin Davis, Robert Downey Jr., Zena Grey and Spencer Breslin - obediently ``sat'' to get on a level with Shaggy.

The exuberant kid-filled audience - which also included adults George Lopez, Lauren Holly, Ashley Tisdale, Michael Eisner, Brenda Strong and Stacy Keibler - was even more enthusiastic than during last month's El Cap premiere of ``Eight Below,'' which featured Alaskan huskies.

``I'm a dog fanatic and loved acting with Tim as both a husband and a sheep dog in 'Shaggy,' '' said Davis. ``But in real life, he's a cat person.'' Will ``The Shaggy Cat'' be next?
