So has Johnny given any acting or life advice? ``Not in so many words, but one learns by watching,'' said the freckle-faced British lad. ``What impresses me the most is that Johnny is just so completely normal,'' says Freddie. ``Even though he's a famous actor, he's just a regular person.''

THE BIRTHDAY BLONDE: Partying with the Parental Units?

Jessica Simpson celebrated her big 2-5 birthday Saturday at the Encino home of her parents.

The party started at 9 and the Spazmatics, an '80s cover band Jess loves, started at 10:30, playing in the back yard, lit by colored lights, while mechanical fish swam in the pool. The last song was ``Rebel Yell,'' and Jessica got on stage and danced with the band, who were dressed like '80s nerds.

Her red velvet cake A Red velvet cake is a type of rich and sweet chocolate cake (though it is often made without chocolate flavoring) which has a distinctive dark red or red-brown color. Common ingredients include buttermilk, butter, flour, cocoa powder, and often either beets, or red food coloring.  (with butter cream frosting frosting

) showed up at 11:30 with trick won't-blow-out candles, which took Jess a few minutes to figure out. Nick and Jess kissed after she made her wish. Maybe for less tabloid coverage of their marriage? Then DJ Samantha Ronson blasted Jess' ``These Boots Were Made for Walking.''

Who came to see the B-day girl? Jake Gyllenhaal, Eva Mendes, Drew Lachey and Ashlee Simpson, Wilmer Valderrama (natch), Christian Slater, Joaquin Phoenix, Seth Green, David Spade, JC Chasez, Macy Gray, Topher Grace, Kevin Richardson, Quentin Tarantino and Cris Judd. And everyone hit the dance floor set up on the tennis court to boogie to Beyonce's ``Crazy in Love,'' and tunes by Gwen Stefani, Justin Timberlake, Coldplay, White Stripes and Missy Elliott. The music quit at 2 but the party went on until 3:30 a.m.

Hubby Nick Lachey surprised Jess with rims on her SUV. She squealed with delight when she saw them before the party. But she also got a lotta loot from family and friends as well as a Silver Spoon gift bag containing Hammit bags, C and C T-shirts, a Lotta Stenson dress, Benefit makeup, True Religion jeans, Hard Tail workout wear, Daisy Duke shorts and a vintage Willie Nelson T-shirt.

Guests got goodies, too: Lush and Benefit makeup, Theory clothing, Victoria's Secret sweats, Fred Segal vintage Disney T's, an Ona Spa spray tan gift certificate stuffed in Paul Frank tweed bags for gals and tweed backpacks for dudes.
