TINSELTOWN SPYWITNESS.

Byline: Elizabeth Snead, Joel Stratte-McClure and Meaghan Murphy

LOVE YA, SUNDANCE: Paris Hilton's Sundance 2005 experience was definitely chillier than last year.

Salomon must be making the former ``Charmed'' star happy. Sources say the prime-time diva was acting most un-divalike at Fred Segal's freebie free·bie also free·bee

boutique last Sunday. Seems she was as gracious and appreciative as could be. ``She was almost embarrassed to pick out anything for herself. She was so sweet!'' marveled one observer.

Later that night, Salomon, doing his best Sasquatch imitation with a beard and fuzzy wool cap, escorted Doherty to the Snoop Dogg concert at Blender magazine's Sessions. Paris must have heard her ex and his new flame would be there, because she was conspicuously absent from the show.

It's just not in Paris' nature to miss seeing her T-Mobile Sidekick commercial co-star. Makes you wonder if Snoop's current hit, ``Drop It Like It's Hot "Drop It Like It's Hot" is a 2004 hip-hop number-one hit single by Snoop Dogg featuring Pharrell Williams. Snoop performs the chorus and the second and third verses (of three). Pharrell performs the first verse. ,'' is actually about Paris' popularity plunge.

Love (or something like it) was definitely in the air last weekend when wild child Bijou Phillips, fresh off the slopes, bounded in to the Crown Royal lounge and planted a big wet kiss on boyfriend Danny Masterson of ``That '70s Show That '70s Show is an American television sitcom that centers on the lives of a group of teenagers living in Point Place, Wisconsin, a fictional suburb of either Kenosha or Green Bay<ref name="That'70sShowFAQs"/> from May 17, 1976 to December 31, 1979. .'' ``I'm an OK skier, but I can't, like, go down a black diamond or anything,'' demurred the petite actress.

Long-lasting love burned at the spectacular William Morris lodge, easily the most stunning party spot in Sundance. Kyra Sedgwick received a foot massage in front of a roaring fireplace from the Rescue Hand and Foot Spa experts as hubby Kevin Bacon looked lovingly on.

Bacon, whose directorial debut ``Loverboy'' (starring Campbell Scott, Matt Dillon, Sedgwick and Oliver Platt) premiered at the fest, received the 2005 Ray-Ban Visionary Award. After returning to California, Bacon enjoyed a celebratory career retrospective and party at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Friday.

Ain't festival love grand?

, FANCY AND VERY FREE: There are so many celebs lugging swag bags around Park City that one suspects stars do arty indies just so they can attend the Sundance Freebie Festival.

The feeding frenzy hit an all-time high (or low) this year. Fred Segal gave away 200 cozy Roca Wear faux-fur-trimmed jackets, spotted on stars from Carmen Electra to Shannen Doherty. Star stylist Phillip Bloch, in his faux-fox Roca, hailed a Roca-wrapped diva on Main Street, ``I see you rocking your free jacket!''

The winter white Walter jacket was gifted to Lisa Kudrow, Brooke Burns, Molly Sims, Chynna Phillips and Vivica A. Fox. Lingerie lovers at Fred Segal: Shannon Elizabeth (Tisha and Linguine bras) and Juliette Lewis (Nikita push-up bra and low-rider thongs).

Stars at the Ultimate Comfort Suite got a $50,000 gift bag.

At the ``Hustle & Flow'' after-party, r&b star/actor Tyrese lamented not hitting the gift lounges yet. But he planned to ``fill up the whole jet with freebies'' before he left Sundance. Not every celeb had a jet to fill. ``Las Vegas'' star Sims overstuffed o·ver·stuff

SEEKING DAKOTA: Dakota Fanning will undoubtedly be one of the few 10-year-olds allowed to see ``Hide and Seek,'' starring Robert De Niro Noun 1. Robert De Niro - United States film actor who frequently plays tough characters (born 1943)

.

But that's because she plays the R-rated thriller's scariest character, Emily.

``I think most kids my age would be pretty scared unless they saw it with a bunch of friends,'' Fanning admitted at the Monday premiere on the Fox lot. ``But I knew what the movie was about and didn't get too freaked out when I saw it.''

The tiny actress - who co-stars with Tom Cruise in Steven Spielberg's upcoming ``War of the Worlds'' - is pretty unflappable. She didn't even freak at comedian Kathy Griffin's attempted on-air wit (``We did hear a rumor that little Dakota Fanning entered rehab today, and we wish her the best'') during the E! channel's coverage of the Golden Globes. And you thought Joan Rivers was mean!

Reportedly E! was flooded with flack from viewers. Fanning's camp, including her co-stars Famke Janssen and Elisabeth Shue, were not amused. The actress' PR person told us that the remark ``has made Dakota much wiser'' about ``journalists.''

Wait, isn't Griffin a comedian, not a journalist?

E! swiftly issued an on-air and online apology for the joke and made a sizable donation to UNICEF UNICEF (y`nĭsĕf'), the United Nations Children's Fund, an affiliated agency of the United Nations.  on the young actress' behalf, because, according to their statement, ``Dakota has donated so much of her time and energy to tsunami relief.'' Griffin, so far, has not apologized.

``What a terrible comment to make about a child!'' Janssen said Monday.

Shue, who stars with Fanning in the upcoming Kurt Russell film ``Dreamer,'' brushes off the incident. ``Dakota is already so grounded and cool that she could care less about such an inappropriate and silly remark. What's really great about her is that she's an incredibly talented actor but still has a kid's spirit.''
