TINSELTOWN SPYWITNESS.

Byline: Elizabeth Snead

STYLIN' GRACE: Forget that silly New York snowstorm. There was a flurry of fashionable events Wednesday afternoon in Los Angeles.

InStyle magazine hosted a star-studded luncheon at the Beverly Hills Hotel The Beverly Hills Hotel is a hotel in Beverly Hills, CA, at 9641 Sunset Boulevard. It was opened on May 12, 1912 and started by Margaret J. Anderson and her son, Stanley S. Anderson, who had been managing the Hollywood Hotel.  for the likes of Samantha Mathis, Portia de Rossi Portia de Rossi, born Amanda Lee Rogers on January 31, 1973, is an Australian actress who is best known for her roles as lawyer Nelle Porter on the television series Ally McBeal and as Lindsay Bluth Fünke on the television series Arrested Development. , Jennifer Love Hewitt and Garcelle Beauvais, the last three ladies all sporting those trendy young blunt bangs purported to be faster than a face-lift at erasing the years.

Also in the fashion house: Kelly Stone and big sis Sharon Stone, looking very skinny in beige suede jeans, jacket, turtleneck and orange print scarf, dragging her adorable blond son, Roan roan

a coat color consisting of a relatively uniform mixture of white and colored hairs, giving a 'silvered' hue; self-describing colors are red-roan, blue-roan, chestnut roan.
, along; Bonnie Hunt; Allison Janney; a very pregnant Charlotte Ross (in a floral sun dress) and a very stunning Jessica Capshaw.

Everyone dined and whined about the pressures of award season. Then they oohed and ogled models clad in gorgeous gowns from Chanel, Versace, Oscar de la Renta Oscar de la Renta (born July 22, 1932) is a leading fashion designer. Early years

and Karl Lagerfeld and adorned with colored gems and diamonds from Bulgari, Cartier, De Beers, Martin Katz, Neil Lane Jewelry, Fred Leighton, H. Stern, Tiffany and Harry Winston.

At Hollywood's way-hip Chateau Marmont, stylists and celebs fluttered like moths to notoriously naughty British designer Alexander McQueen's fashion show. McQueen wasn't there because he's busy: Now that he's been acquired by Gucci, new flagship stores are being built in New York, London and Milan, and his first fragrance, Kingdom, starts wafting this fall.

Bubbly, fancy water and raw sushi snacks were served to guests Dennis Hopper and his equestrian wife, Victoria. Hopper, with his gray goatee, baby blue sports coat, and beige knit sports shirt, looked more like a Silver Fox than an Easy Rider. He snapped the scantily clad models with his digital camera. Seated across from him was the Chateau's handsome hotel baron, Andre Balazs, and Anjelica Huston, Kelly Lynch, Fran Drescher, Shiva Rose, Eve, Leelee Sobieski and Jennifer Tilly.

The fashion show featured somber, emaciated e·ma·ci·ate

After the show, folks hit the penthouse showroom with a balcony view of the city well worth the packed elevator ride. Drescher eyed a sheer floral patchwork chiffon gown but balked at the three-grand price tag. Everyone tried on the skull print cotton scarves in black, gray and beige (a mere $160), just like the ones (sans the McQueen logo) that fashionable punks picked up for $5 bucks in the East Village back in the mid-'80s.

While waiting for the valet to bring his Jaguar, Hopper showed pals pictures of his new baby stored on his digital camera and everyone else examined their goodie bag contents. In them: Mac eye makeup, Atore South Seas pearl choker and a signed copy of ``Door to Door,'' a groundbreaking new novel by Tobi Tobin about a young girl who leaves Michigan to model in New York, act in L.A. and who (yes, you guessed it) falls in with the wrong bar-hopping, name-dropping crowd, otherwise known as the ``in crowd.''
