Cole Hauser looked far friendlier than he does as the film's nasty Miami drug kingpin. But Hauser's torture scene involving a fat cop, a metal pail, a blow torch and a crazed rat still has us quivering.

Jessica Alba (remember ``Dark Angel''?) came in jeans and a green jacket to fight the chill. Left at home: her usual hand-warmer, fiance and former ``Angel'' co-star Michael Weatherly.

You and every hot actor in Hollywood. Which may be why karaoke, the kitchsy '90s sing-along craze, is hotter than ever.

Ashton Kutcher, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Jimmy Fallon, and Luke and Owen Wilson are regulars at the monthly (the last Wednesday of every month) Karaoke Night at White Lotus, the hip restaurant/club at 1743 N. The shirtless buff boys waved huge palm fronds and shook their booty as guests arrived, creating an odd scene considering that the party was sponsored by Stuff, ``the quintessential adolescent male fantasy magazine,'' as one partygoer described it.

But most females in the crowd were not heard to complain one bit. Plus, there was plenty of celebrity female eye candy for the guys, including ``X2'' villain Kelly Hu, wearing a perfect little black dress, and Bai Ling, whose form-hugging asymmetrical micro mini dress was ``just something I bought in some store.''

A slew of beautiful ex-soap opera actresses turned up, including Jennifer Sky (``General Hospital''), Kathleen McClellan (``Bold and the Beautiful'') and Shaune Bagwell (``Days of Our Lives''), along with small-screen stars like Catherine Bell (``JAG''), Nicki Aycox (``Providence''), and Josie Davis (``Beverly Hills, 90210'').

Men looking good included Antonio Sabato Jr.and ``The Other Half'' co- host Dorian Gregory.
