TIMING RIGHT FOR SCOTT MOORPARK HALFBACK RUSHES FOR 5 TDS MOORPARK 33, AGOURA 13.

Byline: LEE BARNATHAN Special to the Daily News

MOORPARK -- It's a common-enough strategy that probably goes back to the time of the University of Notre Dame's ``Four Horsemen'': Hold onto the football and use as much time as possible to keep the ball out of the other team's hands.

No one had tried it yet against Moorpark this season, so Agoura attempted it Friday night. The Chargers ran 23 more offensive plays than the Musketeers and held possession for 65 percent of the game.

But when Darrell Scott For Darrell Scott, the "Rachel's Challenge" founder of this name, see .

Scott rushed 25 times and scored on runs of 20, 3, 3, 71 and 8 yards, with his 71-yard run coming on a busted play after Scott ran into quarterback Adam Barry on the handoff, then ran to the left sideline and went untouched.

Through the first half, Moorpark led 6-3, and Scott had gained just 60 yards on nine carries. Meanwhile, Bradley had 13 carries for 30 yards. Shumway had completed half of his eight passes, and although he had been sacked three times, the clock continued to run.

Scott didn't get started until the second half, a trend he has noticed in recent weeks. Moorpark marched the second half's opening drive 90 yards in 4:02, Scott finishing the drive with a 3-yard run. Agoura responded with a 9-play, 75-yard drive of its own, Shumway going deep and finding Eric Wells way ahead of Smith for a 46-yard score and a 13-10 game. But as the game wore on, the clock worked against Agoura.
