The scholastic Super Bowl among high schoolers, the decathlon covers nine academic subject areas - art, music, language and literature, math, science, social science, speech, essay and interview, and climaxes with the Superquiz, a contest similar to a game show. Each school is fielding a team of nine students, who run the gamut in terms of grade-point averages. Palmdale High did, however, take top honors in the first decathlon scrimmage among Antelope Valley Union High School District The Antelope Valley Union High School District (A.V.U.H.S.D.) is located in the Antelope Valley area of California, in northern Los Angeles County. The district includes eight public high schools, one trade school, and two continuation high schools in the cities of Palmdale schools held at Littlerock High in November. ``It was a real boost. It got us to study more,'' Loughrie said.
