1854: Dairy farmers Dairy Farmers is one of Australia's largest and oldest dairy manufacturers, established in 1900, supplying products to local and international markets such as eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia.  in Tillamook County build a two-masted schooner schooner (sk`nər), sailing vessel, rigged fore-and-aft, with from two to seven masts. , dubbed dub 1

1894: Canadian cheese maker Peter McIntosh and local butter maker T.S. Townsend establish the first commercial cheese factory in Tillamook County.

1909: Farmers from 10 cheese factories in Tillamook form the Tillamook County Creamery Association.

1918: Creamery originates its first advertising program, becoming the first community to market its cheese under a brand name.

1920: Creamery attempts to patent its name, but the application is rejected.

1921: Creamery registers the name as a federal trademark.

1949: Creamery constructs $1.5 million plant measuring 307,000 square feet and capable of storing 45 million pounds of cheese.

1960s: Farmer cooperative splits into two groups over a dispute about marketing surplus milk. Creamery sues rival group for use of the trademark, and loses.

1967: Creamery buys out the farmers who had split for $3.5 million.

1968: Remaining seven cheese factories in Tillamook consolidate into the creamery.

1990: Creamery builds fully automated cheddaring system, including the "Cheddarmaster."

1995-2003: Creamery sends up to 130 letters to businesses that use Tillamook or Bandon in their names, saying they may need to change names to avoid "consumer confusion."

2000: Creamery buys Bandon Cheese.

2001: Creamery builds second plant in Boardman, doubling in size.
