TIFFANY & CO. OPENS STORE IN PALM BEACH

TIFFANY & CO. OPENS STORE IN PALM BEACH
NEW YORK, Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Tiffany & Co. (NYSE: TIF), the

venerable American jeweler of international renown, opens its first store in Florida to the public tomorrow on Worth Avenue, the international crossroads of luxury retailing in Palm Beach.
The Palm Beach store is comprised of approximately 11,500 sq. ft. and occupies two levels, featuring salons for jewelry, arts of the table, and luxury accessories. The granite and marble entrance situation at Worth and Hibiscus avenues, echoes the streamlined elegance of the flagship store on Fifth Avenue. Art Deco-styled vitrines, magnificent steel doors, and a replica of the Atlas Clock that has stood above the entrance of the New York store for more than a century, reflect Tiffany's unique architectural heritage. Composed of cut coral and cast stone, material indigenous to the Florida Keys, the building also incorporates elements of the Mediterranean-styled architecture for which Palm Beach is noted. In addition, the new branch offers bridal registry and personal shopping services, an engraving and repair department, as well as corporate division services for local businesses, government and sporting institutions and trade associations.
Commenting on Tiffany's 12th American store, Tiffany Chairman, William R. Chaney stated, "We are especially proud to add Palm Beach to our family of stores. Tiffany has long enjoyed a valued relationship with many Palm Beach clients, and customers in adjoining markets. The Palm Beach store will extend the Tiffany traditions of excellence to the state of Florida and we look forward to becoming an active, responsible and contributing part of the community."
Tomorrow's opening will feature the debut of several special displays, including windows by the renowned designer, Gene Moore. The celebrated "window wizard" of Fifth Avenue has been delighting New Yorkers for over three decades with his magical Tiffany displays. In honor of the opening, Moore has created eight holiday windows depicting Santa Claus working and relaxing against the backdrop of Palm Beach's balmy weather. Tiffany also introduced its exhibition, "Treasures from the Tiffany Permanent Collection," which showcases some of the firm's finest jewelry and silver designs spanning two centuries.
The collection includes escape artist Harry Houdini's pocket watch, designed with a chain of interconnecting handcuffs, and the "American Flag Brooch" crafted with diamonds, sapphires and rubies to replicate an undulating flag, circa 1900.
The exhibit also highlights Tiffany's tradition of fine silversmithing and includes such masterworks as "The Pueblo Bowl," inspired by native American art and presented at the Columbian Exposition in 1893, as well as a civil war decorative sword. The exhibition will be open to the public on Saturday, Dec. 14 and will remain on view through Jan. 4.
