), a leading global provider of optical networking solutions, today announced that THUS plc, one of the UK's leading providers of voice, data, Internet and contact center services, has selected ADVA's Fiber Service Platform (FSP) 500 for added-value metro data services.

"We believe that ADVA's FSP 500 currently best meets our needs for versatile bandwidth service capabilities. ADVA provides THUS with a cost effective migrational solution for the provision of LAN/WAN LAN/WAN Local Area Network/Wide Area Network  protocol services within our metropolitan networks throughout the UK. Furthermore, this allows THUS to now offer the speed and flexibility of the LAN over the MAN and WAN," stated Paul Sinclair, Product Manager at THUS plc.

"ADVA is focused on enabling customers to deliver value-added customized services economically," added Abdul Kasim, VP Marketing at ADVA. "The FSP 500 has been explicitly designed with this in mind and cost-effectively supports the growing demand for high-speed managed data services. We are pleased that THUS has chosen the FSP 500 and are confident that the platform will exceed their expectations for outstanding delivery of LAN based services."

THUS will utilize FSP 500 to efficiently consolidate and manage a wide variety of bandwidth service applications, including point-to-point links, co-location, disaster recovery, virtual private networks, and metro data services.

FSP 500 ensures that THUS can centrally manage their optical links through to the customer premise sites via its unique Sideband sideband, any frequency component of a modulated carrier wave other than the frequency of the carrier wave itself, i.e., any frequency added to the carrier as a result of modulation; sidebands carry the actual information while the carrier contributes none at all.  Management capability. It supports Ethernet, Fast Ethernet An earlier name for 100Mbps Ethernet. See 100Base-T.

, Gigabit Ethernet, ATM155, ATM622 and Fibre Channel links of up to 50 kilometers on singlemode fiber. Designed specifically for LAN extension applications, the FSP 500 solution has a unique feature set that provides SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) A widely used network monitoring and control protocol. Data are passed from SNMP agents, which are hardware and/or software processes reporting activity in each network device (hub, router, bridge, etc.  management to the remote transceiver installed within the customer's premises.
