Brian Darling, a member of Troop No. 175 in Eugene, was honored at an Eagle Court of Honor April 16 at the Songbrook Community Center. Eagle Scout is the highest honor awarded by the Boy Scouts.

Darling is the son of Doug and Renee Darling of Eugene. He earned 22 merit badges, is a member of Order of the Arrow, completed junior leader training and den chief training and completed Eagle Quest. He hiked 219 miles and received his Arrow of Light and the Philmont Arrow.

His service project, completed for Westside Baptist Church, involved extending the driveway and parking lot. The project required more than 39 hours and 19 helpers.

Sheldon senior achieves Eagle Scout rank

Samuel Stender, a member of Troop No. 100 in Eugene, was honored at an Eagle Court of Honor April 17 at the Wesley United Methodist Church. Eagle Scout is the highest honor awarded by the Boy Scouts.

Stender, a senior at Sheldon High School, is the son of Randall and Susanne Stender of Eugene. The former Cub Scout earned 39 merit badges, received his Arrow of Light and is a third generation Eagle Scout.

His service project, completed for the Science Factory, involved building three trebuchets (catapults). The project required more than 36 hours and 23 helpers.
