THREE TEENS TO STAND TRIAL IN ATTACK FIVE STUDENTS ASSAULTED AFTER PARTY.

PALMDALE - Three teenagers have been ordered to stand trial on charges stemming from an attack on five high school students who were beaten and stabbed as they left a birthday party.

Charged in the case are Mark Nemback and Christopher Maurer, both 18 and, at the time of the incident, students at Paraclete High School Paraclete High School is a Catholic High School in Lancaster, CA operated independently of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles. 186 seniors graduated in the 2006-2007 school year. . The three defendants, who have each pleaded not guilty, were bound over for trial Tuesday after a preliminary hearing. Each defendant is free after posting bail.

Travell Black's attorney declined to comment on the case. The attorneys for the other two defendants did not return calls for comment.

Authorities believe the assailants picked the wrong party and the wrong victims. Nemback and Maurer were described by investigators as being the instigators who recruited the other assailants.

The Highland High School students, boys who range in age from 16 to 18, were leaving a birthday party for a teenage girl when they were assaulted, detectives said.

An 18-year-old was stabbed nine times, and a 17-year-old was stabbed twice.

The defendants are each charged with five counts of assault. Nemback is charged in addition with one count of making terrorist threats.
