THREE INTERNATIONAL UNITS OF MOBIL SET PRODUCTION RECORDS

THREE INTERNATIONAL UNITS OF MOBIL SET PRODUCTION RECORDS
FAIRFAX, Va., Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Three international units of Mobil Corporation operating in the North Sea and West Africa have set oil and natural gas production records.
The units are Mobil North Sea Ltd., Mobil Exploration Norway Inc., and Mobil Producing Nigeria Unltd.
Mobil said the production records emphasize the company's focus on two major strategies: to keep production levels high and to apply new technologies in the efficient management of oil and gas resources.
On Nov. 16 Mobil North Sea Limited established a daily record for the Mobil-operated block 9/13 in the United Kingdom sector of the North Sea when it produced 143,332 barrels of oil from three mature producing fields. The fields, Beryl, Ness and Linnhe, are located approximately 210 miles northeast of Aberdeen, Scotland. Two platforms, Alpha and Bravo, handle production from the Beryl field. The Ness and Linnhe fields are sub-sea developments tied into the Beryl Bravo platform.
The increased production was obtained by improving gas injection systems and implementing new reservoir management techniques. Previously, production averaged about 100,000 barrels a day. Production now is about 130,000 barrels per day.
In the Norwegian sector of the North Sea, Mobil Exploration Norway Inc. achieved its highest average monthly production rate ever during September -- 125,500 barrels of oil per day.
The increase was due to the implementation of new technologies that maintain high recovery rates from the Statfjord field and the start of production from a third platform on the Oseberg field.
On Nov. 6 Mobil Producing Nigeria set a new daily production record when it recovered a total of 334,400 barrels of oil. The increase was due to the installation and commissioning of a new production platform at the offshore Edop oil field. Additional pipeline capacity allows more crude to be handled.
