THREE CONVICTED IN BANK ROBBERY.

PALMDALE - Three reputed Los Angeles-area gang members have been convicted of a Palmdale Boulevard bank robbery The examples and perspective in this article or section may not represent a worldwide view of the subject.

Bank robbery is the crime of robbing a bank.
 in which the robbers fled after a dye pack A dye pack is a device used by banks to foil bank robbers non-violently.

Banks put dye packs in money given up during robberies. The dye pack is an incendiary device that explodes in a shower of colored ink, and sometimes tear gas, intended to permanently stain the stolen

``Four people entered the bank. There was one at the door, two jumped the counter at the teller line, and one went to the merchant window,'' Deputy District Attorney Michael Blake said.

The jury convicted Gresham of receiving stolen property and found true a gang allegation.

A fourth defendant, 19-year-old Andre Germany, is awaiting trial, and a fifth, Kevin Gresham, is awaiting arraignment A criminal proceeding at which the defendant is officially called before a court of competent jurisdiction, informed of the offense charged in the complaint, information, indictment, or other charging document, and asked to enter a plea of guilty, not guilty, or as otherwise permitted , Blake said.

Kevin Gresham and Carlester Gresham are believed to be brothers.

Kevin Gresham and Daniel Henry Mitchell are alleged to be part of a group dubbed the ``Cash and Carat'' bandits by investigators because they rob jewelry stores as well as banks, FBI officials said last December.

Kevin Gresham is in federal custody awaiting trial on armed bank robbery charges, and Mitchell has not been arrested, FBI officials said Friday.

The Palmdale bank robbers wore ski masks and demanded money from the tellers, who complied and handed over cash. The dye pack exploded seconds later and the men abandoned the bag and some of the cash in front of the bank.

Several customers were inside the bank at the time of the robbery but no one was injured, officials said.

The men fled in a silver car, which they abandoned a few blocks away. Witnesses reported seeing the men climb into a Ford SUV and drive away.

A sheriff's spokesman said the investigators found $20,000 in cash in the home. Inside the car, they found cash marked with dye.

The Sheriff's Department, Los Angeles police and the FBI had been investigating the suspects for some time, he said.
