Investigators went to the home in the 7900 block of Genesta Avenue at about 3 p.m. after an employee at a Mailboxes Etc. noticed a suspicious package and alerted police. Officers found explosive devices inside the package, which they connected to the Genesta Avenue residence, said Los Angeles Police Department Lt. William Guerrero.

``They examined the evidence at the scene and they uncovered information that led them to the house,'' Guerrero said. ``Once they got there, they met the occupant occupant n. 1) someone living in a residence or using premises, as a tenant or owner. 2) a person who takes possession of real property or a thing which has no known owner, intending to gain ownership. (See: occupancy)  of the house, who was cooperative and said he had a large cache of explosives.''

Police did not identify the resident.

Authorities evacuated about 60 homes in a four-block area around the residence as a precaution, and began categorizing, testing and taking inventory of the explosives.

By late Thursday night, Guerrero said, the man was booked on suspicion of illegal possession of explosives, a felony felony (fĕl`ənē), any grave crime, in contrast to a misdemeanor, that is so declared in statute or was so considered in common law. . The investigation continued into the night.

Guerrero said, however, that investigators are trying to determine whether the device was put into the package on purpose or by mistake.

Few neighbors in the four-block area surrounding the home in the 7900 block of Genesta Avenue were alarmed, though, as they watched regiments of police cruisers This is a so far incomplete list of cruisers 1860-present.
