The foundation organized the cleanup and 44 other Earth Day projects across the state that drew an estimated 7,000 volunteers. The park covers about 2,955 acres (11. ; trail repair and park cleanup at Point Mugu State Park Point Mugu State Park is a large park located in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area in Southern California. It is in the Western Santa Monica Mountains. The park can be accessed from the north in the Satwiwa Native American Indian Culture Center and from the south ; and planting California blackberry vines in the Millennium Row industrial neighborhood. The foundation covered the cost of the projects through $55,000 in grants. At each project site, park rangers and organizers explained the importance of the work being done and provided information about removing nonnative plants, composting, recycling and keeping wildlife habitats healthy. Volunteers picked up litter, such as cigarette butts, cans, bottles and food wrappers at the Playa del Rey cleanup. Pacoima Beautiful Youth Environmentalists organized volunteers to plant about 100 chitalpa and Chinese flame trees on Van Nuys Boulevard. The new trees are part of a larger effort by the group to improve the main thoroughfare in Pacoima. The group is the youth arm of Pacoima Beautiful, an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for Pacoima residents through environmental education and leadership training.
