THOUSANDS HIT FAIRPLEX ON OPENING DAY.Byline: Jason Newell Staff Writer POMONA - High above the Los Angeles County Fair The Los Angeles County Fair (also called simply the L.A. County Fair) is an annual event held in the Fairplex in Pomona, California, held every September. It is a carnival with rides, merchants, food vendors, cooking contests, and livestock. The 2007 L.A. , Tavis Fikel climbed aboard a scrap of burlap and streaked down the wavy slope of the Super Slide, skidding with delight to a stop at the bottom. ``He loves the slide,'' father Dave Fikel said, watching as his 3-year-old scurried up dozens of steps for yet another trip. ``One time when he caught air he got a little concerned, because he got about a foot of air off the slide. But he's our fearless one.'' The Rancho Cucamonga Rancho Cucamonga (răn`chō k 'kəmäng`gə), city (1990 pop. 101,409), San Bernardino co., S Calif. family members were among thousands of people
