THOUSAND OAKS TOURNAMENT: ONCE AGAIN, IT'S SWEET REVENGE FOR THE GRANT GIRLS.

It's been a week of revenge for the Grant High of Van Nuys girls' basketball team.

Grant's pressure defense triggered a 9-0 run in the third quarter to give the Lancers the lead for the rest of the game.

Karen Shun of El Camino Real, who scored 35 points Thursday, had the flu and scored only six points. Victoria Wong led the Conquistadores with 24 points.

Price, who had 13 points, hit a 3-pointer to tie the game with 18 seconds left in regulation. Sherman led all scorers with 31 points.

--Saugus 50, Westlake 26: Despite being without the services of leading scorer Jessi Loring, who has the flu, the Centurions (11-2) had little trouble disposing of the Warriors (3-6).

Center Sheridan Arrendondo had 16 points and 12 rebounds for Saugus. Lisa Sonnenblick had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Saugus' starting backcourt of Brusta Brown and AnnMarie Summerhays combined to score 16 points and played strong defense. Jennifer Schlinz had 16 for Westlake.

--Crescenta Valley 69, Santa Monica Santa Monica (săn`tə mŏn`ĭkə), city (1990 pop. 86,905), Los Angeles co., S Calif., on Santa Monica Bay; inc. 1886. ``I thought we could win,'' Crescenta Valley coach Bruce Breeden said. ``We just played really smart.''

Breeden substituted aggressively and used all available players in the game.

Jenine Deno scored 21 points to lead Crescenta Valley. Iman Burks had 18 for Santa Monica.

--Highland 61, Merced 54: The Bulldogs of Palmdale (4-10) pulled away from the Bears (7-9) in the final minutes by making six of their nine free throws.
