 THOMAS P. MCANDREWS NOMINATED VICE CHAIRMAN OF HORIZON INDUSTRIES
 CALHOUN, Ga., April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Horizon Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: HRZN) announced today that Peter R. Spirer, chairman and chief executive officer, has nominated Thomas P. McAndrews to the newly- created post of vice chairman, subject to approval by the board of directors. McAndrews will work closely with Peter Spirer and Ralph J. Boe, president and chief operating officer, in developing strategies and business plans for Horizon, a leading manufacturer and fashion trendsetter in the $8 billion U.S. carpet industry.
 McAndrews, 55, has 30 years of experience in the textile fiber and floor covering industries and is considered one of the leading authorities in marketing products and services to the consumer. He most recently served as chief operating officer of Mannington Mills, one of the largest flooring manufacturers in North America, and as president of its Mannington Resilient Floors division. McAndrews is credited with forging Mannington's leadership position in the resilient floor market through the highly successful launch of Mannington Gold(TM), an innovative sheet flooring material for the home. He also was instrumental in creating new and innovative services that helped make Mannington a major force in the $21 billion floor covering market.
 Prior to joining Mannington, McAndrews served in several posts during a 25 year tenure with E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co., Inc. including Worldwide director of the DuPont Flooring Systems division, the leading producer of fibers for the carpet industry. At DuPont, McAndrews was responsible for the introduction of Stainmaster(TM) carpet fibers, recognized as one of the most important marketing breakthroughs in the carpet industry.

 A native of Clinton, Iowa, McAndrews holds a bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and International Relations from American University in Washington, D.C. He and his wife Peggy have four children and plan to relocate to Atlanta.
