THIS WEEK'S KEY GAMES : SOUTHERN SECTION DIVISION III AT COLLEGE OF THE CANYONS.Byline: - Gerry Gittelson ST. FRANCIS (11-1) vs. HART (12-0) at College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation. , tonight 7:30 p.m. OUTLOOK: Hart's 14-0 quarterfinal victory over Muir was surprisingly low-scoring - the first time in 75 games Hart failed to produce a touchdown pass - but don't expect a repeat in this game. Both teams have too many weapons, including two of the state's top junior QBs, Hart's Kyle Matter and St. Francis' John Sciarra John Michael Sciarra (born March 2, 1954 in Los Angeles, California), is a former professional American football safety in the NFL position for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1979-1987. He also played quarterback for the British Columbia Lions of the Canadian Football League. . Matter, held to 134 yards passing by Muir, is having a huge season, even by Hart standards. He's thrown for 3,291 yards (67.2 pct.) with 46 touchdowns and only six INTs. His efficiency rating of 201.04 is ahead of Kyle Boller's 195.85 last year. Sciarra, coming off a 200-yard, two-touchdown performance in Saturday's 41-7 victory at Canyon, has passed for 2,505 yards (60.1 pct.) with 27 touchdowns and nine INTs. His efficiency rating is 172.32. St. Francis is seeking to avenge a·venge tr.v. a·venged, a·veng·ing, a·veng·es 1. Redell serves as head coach at Oaks Christian High School in Westlake Village, California, since 2000, and has formed them into one of said. But St. Francis, which entered last year's playoffs with a .500 record, is much improved. Sciarra has matured, and RB Matt Milton has emerged. Milton rushed for 141 yards and three TDs against Canyon, giving him 1,433 yards (7.0 avg.) and 20 TDs. Hart features UCLA-bound LB Pat Norton, DL Ethan Allen and an excellent secondary. St. Francis counters with DLs Pat Weisenberg (seven sacks) and Zach Acker (six sacks) and DBs Kenny Garcia and Mark Garcia, who each have four INTs. KEEP AN EYE ON: Hart RB Tim Gregory, who scored both touchdowns against Muir. The sophomore has 1,099 yards (8.3 avg.), 37 receptions and 21 TDs. SAUGUS (10-2) vs. VALENCIA (9-3) at College of the Canyons, Saturday 7:30 p.m. OUTLOOK: This figures to be a wild, hard-hitting game between neighboring rivals both seeking their first championship appearance. Saugus loves to pass and Valencia loves to run. In this case, opposites definitely attract - the game was switched to College of the Canyons to accommodate more fans, and Fox Sports Net 2 decided Wednesday to televise tel·e·vise tr. & intr.v. tel·e·vised, tel·e·vis·ing, tel·e·vis·es To broadcast or be broadcast by television. WESTLAKE (11-1) at ARROYO GRANDE (10-1) Saturday, 7:30 p.m. OUTLOOK: Westlake, which has been to the playoffs six consecutive years, is the region's most successful team never to have made it to the finals. Standing in the way here is an Arroyo Grande team that has won two straight section championships. Is this - finally - the year of the Warriors? Well, they certainly have the look of a championship contender, outscoring opponents by an average of 32.6 points per game. Playing only in the first half against Camarillo, Penn State-bound Zac Wasserman passed for 133 yards and four touchdowns. He has 2,357 yards (58 pct.) and 32 touchdowns.
