Thousand Oaks' softball team survived tough contests against Simi Valley and Newbury Park last week and looks to remain undefeated in league. To get first place to themselves, though, the Lancers have to overcome Westlake's Erin Voeltz, who pitched three shutouts last week. The teams play today at Thousand Oaks.

On Wednesday, it's the baseball and boys' tennis teams' turn to play for first.

Defending Marmonte tennis champion Westlake enters the week undefeated, led by senior Alex Yaftali, who is ranked in the USTA's 18-and-under top 20. Thousand Oaks counters with last year's Marmonte MVP (Multimedia Video Processor) A high-speed DSP chip from Texas Instruments, introduced in 1994. The other sports can't come close to matching the rivalry between the baseball teams, who play at 3 p.m. at Thousand Oaks. Intensity has always been high between the two, but when a late-season forfeit against the Lancers cost Westlake a share of the league title, the desire to prove themselves on the field increased.
