The Rio Mesa and Camarillo high school baseball teams will learn what their chances of a league title are when the two meet twice this week. The top two teams in the new Pacific View League meet today at Camarillo and again Friday at Rio Mesa.

Greg Ramirez is one of seven returning starters for the defending Channel League champions, who have split nonleague games with the Scorpions the past two years. The senior pitcher was the Channel League Player of the Year last season and has signed with Pepperdine.

The Spartans also have All-Ventura County players Ernie Borjas, Richard Martinez and Frank Tinoco.

Camarillo counters with an experienced lineup loaded with power hitters. Shane Miranda, Garrett Valencia and Eric Foster Eric Foster from Homestead, Florida is an American college football senior defensive lineman who plays for Rutgers University. High school career
Foster was named All-Dade at linebacker by the Miami Herald following his senior year.

Volleyball: Division I Top-10 teams Royal and Thousand Oaks play Wednesday at Royal. The Highlanders also host Newbury Park on Friday.

College: The Moorpark College Moorpark College is a California-state funded community college located on a 134 acre (542,000 m²) property reclining on a hill in Moorpark, a town in Ventura County, California.  softball team starts Western State Conference Northern Division play Thursday when the Raiders travel to Ventura. The Moorpark baseball team has a rematch with Pierce on Saturday. Ventura, for which former Westlake standout Ryan Cope plays, beat the Raiders earlier this season.
