THIS CHRISTMAS WILL BE 'TOYRRIFIC' FOR MANY KIDS THANKS TO TARGET STORES, HASBRO INC. AND MATTEL

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 19 ~PRNewswire~ -- To celebrate the most popular season for giving and the most popular season for toys, Target is teaming up with Hasbro Inc. and Mattel this Christmas for a $200,000 toy giveaway and a mini-car sweepstakes.
Target introduced the toy giveaway campaign this week with the help of the ebullient seven-year-old, Raven-Symone. Raven, known for her role as Bill Cosby's granddaughter, Olivia, on "The Cosby Show," is now appearing in national television advertisements for Target that will run throughout the holiday season.
As part of the Christmas campaign with Hasbro, $200,000 worth of the season's most popular toys including Cabbage Patch dolls, Tonka trucks, Tinkertoys, ice cream makers and Lite Brites will be given to needy children this Christmas. Target and Hasbro will donate the toys to children's shelters, family charities and children's hospitals across the country. Professional athletes from the following football, basketball, baseball and hockey teams will be helping Target store managers deliver the toys to children during the month of December: Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Indianapolis Colts, Phoenix Cardinals; LA Clippers, Seattle Supersonics, Miami Heat, Charlotte Hornets, Denver Nuggets; San Diego Padres, Houston Astros, LA Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers; and Detroit Red Wings, LA Kings, St. Louis Blues, San Jose Sharks.
To celebrate the toy giveaway campaign with its customers and to make Christmas shopping easier for parents, Target is sponsoring a "Wish List" promotion beginning in early November. Here is how it works:
-- Wish List forms have been printed on store shopping bags. Inside of every specially marked bag will be a sheet of 12 stickers, each one a picture of a popular Hasbro toy.
-- Kids determine which of the toys from the 12 stickers they would like, and complete the Wish List by placing those stickers onto the bag. They also select one toy to give to a child less fortunate than themselves.
-- When completed, the Wish List should be cut out. Moms and dads can use their child's Wish List to help them shop.
-- There will be a Santa's mailbox in Target's toy department for kids who want to drop off their wish lists.
In addition to the Hasbro promotion, Target will roll out its third annual "Toyrrific Sweepstakes," with Mattel Toys. A racy, battery- operated red power wheels Corvette will be awarded to a child at each of Target's 508 stores. Target's Nov. 22 advertising circular will contain registration forms that kids can fill out and drop off at their local Target store toy department. While they're in the toy department, adults, too, can get in on the action by registering to win a real sportscar which will also be given away in the Mattel sweepstakes.
Minneapolis-based Target Stores is an upscale discount department store chain of 508 stores in 32 states coast to coast and is the largest division of Dayton Hudson Corporation, one of the nation's leading retailers.
