THEY HAVE THE RIGHT BUT DON'T REMAIN SILENT.

Byline: David Kronke Television Critic

"Armed and Famous'' is another one of those ``trust us, they really are celebrities'' reality shows featuring personalities who otherwise wouldn't be able to land a show on a broadcast network.

Participants include ``CHiPS'' star Erik Estrada Erik Estrada (born March 16, 1949 in East Harlem, Manhattan, New York City, New York, United States) is an American actor of Puerto Rican descent, known for his co-starring lead role in the 1977–1983 US television series CHiPs. , whom viewers last cared about in the '80s, least-famous Jackson family The Jackson family are an American family from Gary, Indiana whose members are among the most successful and influential figures in modern popular music. Sales clerk/housewife Katherine Jackson and steel mill worker Joseph Jackson (ex-member of an R&B band called The Falcons with  member La Toya, TV wrassler Trish Stratus Patricia Anne Stratigias[8][9] (born December 18 1975, IPA: /strætɛˈdʒiːʌs/), better known by her stage name Trish Stratus, is Canadian. , ``Jackass'' Jason Acuna and Ozzy Osbourne's son, Jack.

Here they all train to become cops in Muncie, Ind. The series can't decide whether to emphasize the jokey jok·ey also jok·y

or the serious aspects of the show, so the series vacillates between scenes in which the cast members witness video of actual officers being ambushed and silly scenes of celebrities partying and doing their laundry.

LaToya, expecting SoCal restaurant amenities, grouses that ``Muncie is quite different from L.A.''

The participants' police work in tonight's episode would be considered standard-issue stuff by actual cops, but the cast here treats it as virtually apocalyptic.

But there's one aspect that all celeb-reality shows should feature in the future -- C-listers getting tasered.
