THEY'RE RARIN' TO BAT, OR SHOOT, OR KICK ...


I like soccer because I have fun, I run a lot, I cover other players, and I use my hands. I also play the sport and I go see the Galaxy Team they play very well, and I want to play like them.

I enjoy sports because I think that sports are not only for boys, but also for girls. My favorite My Favorite is an independent synthpop band from Long Island, New York. They released two CDs: Love at Absolute Zero and Happiest Days of Our Lives. My Favorite broke up on September 14, 2005, when singer Andrea Vaughn left the band.  sport is baseball. I love it and enjoy playing. My family and I play baseball in the park. There's seven in my family so we're already a team, Family Pacheco!

My favorite sport is softball softball, variant of baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. Invented (1888) in Chicago as an indoor game, it was at various times called indoor baseball, mush ball, playground ball, kitten ball, and, because it was also played by women, ladies'  because I am on a softball team in school. Softball gives you exercise for your hands when you throw the ball, for your legs as you run. I also like to make friends with new kids when we play each other. Sometimes our team goes places and we learn about those places. It is great being in a softball team.

I like to participate in soccer and handball. Soccer and handball I participate in the best. In the afternoon I like to go to play soccer. When I play socer I try to take the ball away from them and kick it into the net, then my team get a point, then we win. Then I go home and play handball. When I play handball I hit the ball at the wall, if I hit it out of the line I lose then the next person goes up. When handball is over I go to sleep.

MEMO: NEXT WEEK: On the Fourth of July Fourth of July, Independence Day, or July Fourth, U.S. holiday, commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. Celebration of it began during the American Revolution. , we Americans celebrate freedom from the British and the beginning of our own country. What do you think is the best thing about America and why? Draw a picture of something that represents our nation.

Parents and teachers should make sure that the student's name, address, age and school are CLEARLY PRINTED on the letters and the backs of drawings. Pictures should be drawn using black or dark blue ink or dark pencil on white, unlined paper. Drawings must be no larger than a standard, 8-1/2-by-11-inch sheet of paper.

The deadline is June 24, and letters will be printed July 2. Letters received after the deadline cannot be considered.
