THERMO PROCESS SYSTEMS INC. BEGINS CONSTRUCTION
 OF THIRD SOIL-RECYCLING CENTER
WALTHAM, Mass., Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Thermo Process Systems Inc. (AMEX: TPI) has received all necessary permits and has begun construction in California of its third facility for recycling petroleum-contaminated soil. The facility, located east of Los Angeles in Adelanto, is expected to begin processing soil in the spring of 1992.
This soil-recycling center will be modeled after the company's Richmond, Va., site, employing the same proven thermal-treatment technology and numerous environmental controls, The California center, however, will be built on land purchased by Thermo Process Systems (TPS), while the Richmond facility is located at a landfill.
"We are very excited about the opportunities for our soil-recycling business in the environmentally progressive state of California," said Jeffery L. Powell, president of TPS Technologies Inc., the TPS subsidiary that operates the soil-cleanup sites. "Southern California represents the largest metropolitan market for these services in the country."
Thermo Process Systems designs, manufactures, and sells advanced custom-engineered thermal-processing systems for the treatment of toxic wastes and the automated heat treating of metal parts. The company also provides services for the remediation of petroleum-laden soils, in addition to a comprehensive range of metallurgical processes. Thermo Process Systems is a public subsidiary of Thermo Electron Corporation (NYSE: TMO).
