THERMO PROCESS SYSTEMS BOOKS $2.3 MILLION ORDER FROM KOREAN FIRM
WALTHAM, Mass., April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Thermo Process Systems Inc. (ASE:TPI) has received an order for $2.3 million worth of heat-treating equipment from Sam Yang Metal Company. The firm, located in eastern Korea, is a producer of aluminum alloys used for a variety of products.
The Holcroft division of Thermo Process Systems (TPS) will design four pusher-type systems that will be used to heat aluminum alloy slabs, weighing up to 43,000 pounds, to approximately 600oC to ensure uniform composition. After cooling, the 20-inch-thick slabs are rolled into sheets for the production of beverage cans.
These heat-treating lines will be designed by Holcroft and built by the company's co-production partner in Korea, Dae Han Industrial Furnace Company. Dae Han will also be responsible for installation of the systems, with Holcroft engineers assisting in the start-up phase. The first two treatment lines are scheduled to begin operation in the fall.
Thomas P. Plunkett, president of TPS, said, RHolcroft has supplied a number of systems in the past to major Korean manufacturers such as Daewoo, Hyundai, and Kia Steel. We are pleased with this significant order from a first-time customer, Sam Yang Metal, which is building a new manufacturing plant in an effort to broaden its aluminum products business.
Thermo Process Systems designs, manufactures, and sells advanced custom-engineered thermal-processing systems for the treatment of toxic wastes and the automated heat treating of metal parts. The company also provides services for the remediation of petroleum-laden soils, in addition to a comprehensive range of metallurgical processes. Thermo Process Systems is a public subsidiary of Thermo Electron Corporation.
