THERE'LL ALWAYS BE 'HUNTER'.

Byline: David Kronke Television Critic

HERE'S THE SORT of casual sloppiness that infuses the teleflick ``Hunter: Back in Force'': Hunter (Fred Dryer John Frederick "Fred" Dryer (born July 6, 1946 in Hawthorne, California), is the son of the late Charles F. Dryer and Genevieve Nell Clark and is an American actor and former football defensive end in the NFL. ) and his partner McCall (Stepfanie Kramer) while questioning a man in a rural area get a call on a bank robbery, which is still in progress when they arrive at the urban location and continues as McCall proceeds to drive to a prison outside the city. Some pretty spiffy spiffy - /spi'fee/ 1. Said of programs having a pretty, clever, or exceptionally well-designed interface. "Have you seen the spiffy X version of empire yet?" This was common mainstream slang during the 1940s.

``Hunter: Back in Force'' follows last November's ``Hunter'' reunion movie, whose success could only be chalked up to viewers' hunger for TV comfort food. Certainly the '80s cop show (as well as tonight's movie) featured pretty simplistic sim·plism

Tonight, Hunter and McCall have relocated to San Diego, where a group of trigger-happy women are robbing banks; McCall's convinced the perps are already in prison, but how do they get out? Meanwhile, an ex-con sent up the river by Hunter leaves the big house, hungry for vengeance and teamed with a band of psychos so unhinged, they can scarcely manage to jaywalk jay·walk
