in Hollywood on Tuesday for a two-week run.

This is the second time Lewis has swung through the area with the 1955 musical (he also played Mr. Applegate at the Pasadena Civic last year).

Based on the book by George Abbott and Douglass Wallop, ``Damn Yankees'' tells the story of Joe Boyd, who nearly sells his soul to the devil to help his beloved baseball team, the Washington Senators, have a winning season. The show won eight Tony Awards in 1956, including Best Musical.

``It is dreams and hopes and desires and love and heart,'' Lewis told the Daily News last year. ``It's an incredible potpourri of emotional information. The score is marvelous, the music holds, and the new arrangements, the updating, is incredible.''

The show will be at the Pantages through Nov. 3. Tickets range from $25 to $49 and are available at the box office and all Ticketmaster outlets. Call (213) 480-3232 for more information.
