THE duPONT REGISTRY CELEBRATES ITS 100TH ISSUE AUG. 23; MAGAZINE IS COLLECTOR CAR INDUSTRY'S 'MARKETPLACE'

Publication Has Handled More Than $5.6 Billion In Collectible Cars
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The duPont Registry, the collector car industry's full color "marketplace magazine," will celebrate its 100th issue with a special September commemorative edition on sale worldwide on Aug. 23, it was announced by Steve Chapman, president of duPont Publishing Inc.
Chapman said that the cover of the 100th issue features representations of The duPont Registry's 99 previous covers as well as more than 135 pages of classic, exotic, luxury and classic automobiles. The monthly magazine is now sold in all 50 states and in 44 countries.
Chapman said, "The duPont Registry's effectiveness as an advertising medium for cars and car-related products is unrivaled. In a little more than eight years, The duPont Registry has become the leading marketplace magazine in the collector car industry and has continued to grow in circulation nationally and internationally despite industry trends to the contrary."
According to the duPont Publishing Inc. president, "Since our first issue in April 1985, the Registry has offered for sale more than 120,000 cars with an estimated value of $5.63 billion."
The duPont Registry is owned in part by Playboy Enterprises Inc. whose President, Publishing, Mike Perlis added, "The Registry is the Rolls Royce of its field, reaching out each month to a large loyal and affluent audience with extremely upscale demographics.
"Our minority interest in this very successful magazine is another example of how Playboy is acknowledging the automotive interests of the reading public, as we do with our comprehensive quarterly automotive reports edited by car expert Ken Gross in Playboy magazine itself."
The centennial issue of the magazine includes a special feature on the Top 10 cars ever offered in its pages based on criteria including but not limited to, selling price.
